For mental health, Shawn Mendes pauses his world tour
"I reached a breaking point," said the 23-year-old singer through a message he shared with his fans. Shawn Mendes needs a break, for three weeks in which the 23-year-old Canadian singer will stay away from the stage, pausing his Wonder world tour. The interpreter of "Treat You Better" was honest with his almost 70 million followers on Instagram and shared that he is not going through his best moment, so he will take a three-week break, to start.
"It breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I am going to have to postpone the next three weeks of showings around Uncasville, CT, until further notice," he read at the beginning of his message.
Mendes expressed that since he was 15 years old he has been from one stage to another, and confessed that it has always been difficult for him to be away from his family and friends, and although he also previously took a break and moved away from artistic work, he considers that his return it was premature.
"I've been on tour since I was 15 and to be honest it was always hard being on the road away from friends and family. After a few years off the road I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll road and the pressure caught up with me and I reached a breaking point," he explained. The interpreter wants to focus on his mental health, and promised that when he is clear about what he will do with his life, he promises to notify his fans and return to the stage.
"I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health first and foremost. As soon as I know what I'm going to do, I promise I'll tell you, I love you." It is not the first time that Shawn, Camila Cabello's ex-boyfriend , talks about mental health issues, a few months ago he shared a reflection on Twitter about the feeling of "flying or drowning", and questioned whether that feels like at 20 years old. In 2018, he told Apple Music host Zane Lowe that his song "In My Blood" was about learning to deal with anxiety.
